Traditional Twist is a creation that combines two ideas.
When a customer requested I make the unity Bangles into thin rings that can be worn together like stack up rings I began the process of creating the current shape. This involved working on the Unity thin bangle to make it thinner, this particular shape was used to create all other items.
For a long while I wanted to create a traditional hinged design with a hidden post Hoop Earrings using my unsymmetrical organic shapes. This was the perfect combination.
The Bangle is too thin to be worn in Silver, which gave me the idea of working with different carat and colour gold’s.
I love combining colours in all my work; this collection has given me the opportunity to combine different colours, a look which can also be achieved over time, as one adds more items.
Part of my original thinking for this collection was to use stones but I wasn’t sure which ones. Following a trip to the diamond fair in Antwerp Belgium, where I became inspired by different natural colour Diamonds with their lovely sparkle, was a clear decision of what I want to use, for a look that brings life and vibrancy.
‘Twist’ transpired as a fitting name for this collection, with the obvious use of the traditional technic on the Hoops together with the unsymmetrical shapes.
Another traditional aspect has been the use of diamonds; however using coloured diamonds brings a contemporary feel and an exciting twist.
The idea is to combine and stack the rings and bangles and add the circles on the Hoop Earrings either immediately or over time and to mix plain items with the diamond ones.
The 4 diamonds act as a symbol for the girls in my family. We were three sisters from my mother and father until the joy of our little sister arrived years later from my father’s second marriage. I was fifteen at the time and this wide age gap is expressed in the placement of diamonds.
